MARATHON EFFORT FROM WORTHING

PROPERTY EXPERTS

COLLEAGUES from neighbouring businesses joined forces for a marathon fundraising effort in aid of Worthing charity Guild Care.

Rental experts Micawber Lettings and estate agent Ian Watkins set up a treadmill outside their neighbouring shops at Selden Parade, Salvington Road, last Thursday (September 5). Staff, business associates and friends took it in turns to sprint, jog and walk on the treadmill, managing to clock up an impressive 28.2 miles over the course of one afternoon. The sponsored run, along with a cake sale, raised a total of £420 for Guild Care.

Julie West, Director of Micawber Lettings, said: “Our original fundraising target was £350 for running a marathon distance of 26.2 miles, so £420 and 28.2 miles is just amazing. We wanted to help a local charity - Guild Care does so much wonderful work for adults and children in the Worthing area and seemed a really deserving cause to support.”

Ian Watkins added: “Our offices are next door to each other and we all get on well, so it seemed a natural idea to join forces for this fundraiser. It was great fun and we know the donation will be much appreciated by Guild Care.”
